About Ranganathan Society

Ranganathan Society for Social Welfare and Library Development (RSSWLD) came into existence in 2009. This NGO is also working as CSR implementation arm of BIMTECH. RSSWLD aims to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge and information at the grass root level by setting up libraries in the rural areas and Jails. The society’s primary goal is intellectual development of the underprivileged sections of society so that they can avail competitive employment opportunities and lead a dignified social existence. The society is working in four main verticals: Rehabilitation program for Jail inmates, Community welfare, Social awareness and charity works, and Upliftment of Library and Library Professionals.

RSSWLD have also started knowledge sharing services. Every year inter-disciplinary research workshops are organized for the scholars, especially for library professionals across the country. Society has organized several workshops and conferences of National and International level where more than 1200 LIS professional has been benefited.

The society has established 11 Jail Libraries in various district jails of Uttar Pradesh and computerized 13 libraries, including the library of India Policy Foundation, New Delhi. It has eatblished many libraires in villages and also a Library at Man Mandir, Barsana.

Ranganathan Society is actively involved in philanthropic work and it takes up issues of national importance. It has organized many events to donate blankets and other clothes to needy people. It also conducts other regular activities like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, World Environment Day, Van Mahotsav, Ice bucket Challenge, etc.

What we do?

Apart from opening libraries, one very ambitious project for underprivileged adolescent rural girls Project“Protsahan Chiraya” has been started in village Neemka, District Gautam Budh Nagar in March 2016, where 200 rural girls have been adopted. The project was launched with the vision to sensitize the rural underprivileged adolescent girls about all aspects of good quality life, education, health as well as their roles in the community.The project is spread over several stages called Chiraiyya Kaushal, chahek, Agradoot, Samwaad and Udaan. Ranganathan Society is working for the overall development of these girls by running various activities. The first phase of the project “Protsahan Chiraya” which was called ‘Life School Education completed in March 2018. The second phase is called ‘Digital Literacy Programme was launched in July 2018. Thre batches of this programme have been completed in December 2018 and three batches are still running at Neemka village from January 2019.

RSSWLD has completed a glorified journey of Ten years and in these ten year it has achieved many targets.
